Overview

    The project “Bridging regions” is implemented by the Municipality of Vitia Kosovo, as a lead applicant in partnership with the Municipality of Gostivar, as co-applicant 1, and the Initiative for European Perspective North Macedonia as co-applicant, financed by the European Union through the IPA II Cross-border Programme Kosovo – North Macedonia with reference no. IPA/2023/451-105.

    The overall objective (Impact) to which this action contributes is: to contribute on reducing the environmental pollution and increasing the quality of life of the citizens in the border region of Kosovo and North Macedonia.

    The specific objective no.1 of the action is to reduce river pollution through common actions for preventing illegal waste dump and; The specific objective no.2 of the action is to create preconditions for green transport for citizens.

    Target groups within the project “Bridging regions” are: local inhabitants of Municipality of Vitia (47,370 inhabitants) and Municipality of Gostivar (81,042 inhabitants); active citizens of both municipalities: students from Vitia and Gostivar; teachers from Vitia and Gostivar; environmental maintenance workers from public utilities of Vitia and Gostivar; women entrepreneurs; people with disabilities; youth; local CSOs in both regions: long term unemployed; ethnic minorities (Roma community, informal waste collectors of plastic, metal and glass). Final beneficiaries are: local inhabitants of Gostivar Municipality and Vitia Municipality (in total 128,412), indirect beneficiaries are the population that lives along the course of the Vardar and Morava River, potential tourists within the Vitia and Gostivar region.

    The project duration is 24 months from January 2024 to December 2025. To achieve its objectives is necessary Project assistant.

    Purpose

    The purpose of the Project Assistant’s role is to support the field activities of the project, monitor project planning and implementation, support evaluation, reporting, and provide technical expertise in producing comparative information. Additionally, the role involves designing and delivering local events, campaign activities, trainings, and organizing joint meetings, presentations, conferences, etc.©

    Responsibilities

    • Creating a Terms of Reference which identifies the objectives and scope of the project;
    • Implementation of procurement processes;
    • Monitor project planning and execution to ensure alignment with project objectives;
    • Support the evaluation and reporting processes to assess project progress and outcomes;
    • Organization and execution of field activities related to raising awareness, promotion of environment protection, training for separate collection of solid waste, promotional and visibility materials, events, campaign etc.;
    • Ensure effective communication and coordination with project partners, Steering Committee members, collaborators, stakeholders, including target groups, to facilitate project activities;
    • Ensuring project deliverables and outcomes under the advice and guidance of the Project Manager and Joint Technical Secretariat;
    • Organize meetings, presentations, and conferences;
    • Undertaking communication processes as specified in the Communications Plan;
    • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including financial and narrative reports, meeting minutes, etc.;
    • Controlling expenditure to ensure delivery within the approved project budget;
    • Budgeting financial expenditure throughout the project;
    • Contribute to the overall success of the project by performing other duties as assigned.

    Relationships

    The Project Assistant reports directly to the Project Manager. Collaborate with project team and Steering Committee members, providing support and guidance as needed to ensure achieving project objectives and success.

    Skills

    • Knowledge of administrative, financial and office work;
    • Good communication skills;
    • Ability to work in a team and respect given deadlines for the execution of entrusted tasks.
    • Driver License B

    Experience

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project assistance or related roles in the civil sector and/or on projects financed by international donors;
    • Knowledge of EU funded project management procedures, previous experience in implementing EU/IPA funded projects will be considered an advantage;
    • Implementation of procurement processes;
    • Writing reports.

    Qualifications

    • Completed higher education (University degree) in the field of social science or any related;
    • Excellent knowledge and active work with the Microsoft Office suite;
    • Excellent knowledge of Macedonian and English language. Albanian language will be considered an advantage;
